What Exactly is an "Aura?

A migrainous aura is normally a "prodomal" symptom, occurring prior to the onset of a migraine itself. The aura consists of neurological symptoms that normally develop slowly and subside slowly. These neurological symptoms can consist of (a comprehensive list of symptoms will go here).

If the aura is followed or accompanied by a migraine headache, the headache is then called a "classic migraine" or "migraine with aura." If, however, the aura subsides and no headache ensues, the episode is then called a "migraine equivalent."
