Medical Review

The information on this site is intended to supplement the healthcare an individual receives from their own healthcare professionals. No patient with migraines--especially if they believe they have BAM or complicated migraines--should attempt to diagnose or treat themselves. The information here is meant to help people take responsibility for their health and their healthcare, and to help give them some background information with which to go to a qualified physician or neurologist to discuss their concerns if they believe they may suffer from BAM or other complicated migraines.

The information here is not intended to diagnose or treat or in any other way take the place of proper medical care! What it will do for some is provide them a place to start, arm them with knowledge and information and a bit of terminology, instill hope and confidence in those who may think that they are the only ones in the world who may suffer from debilitating neurological symptoms, and encourage those who are suffering to keep trying and trying until they find a physician or neurologist who can help them find the answers and the relief they are looking for.

This site has been read and reviewed by neurologists, other physicians, and scientists--both those who have a special interest in BAM and complicated migraine and those who do not. These reviews have not been done in an official "peer-reviewed publication" sense, as this is not a "peer-reviewed publication." However, several of these individuals have kindly discussed the site with me, both telephonically and by email.

None of those MDs or PhDs who have reviewed this site have expressed concern in any negative sense about any information provided on this site. In fact, most make it a point to express that it is helpful for patients to have a place to go for information and a sense of community (primarily the "BAM Community" that I started on the BAM Forum, where patients and their friends and families can share their stories, discuss their concerns, and develop relationships with others who understand firsthand exactly what they are experiencing).

The suggestions of and information from various neurologists and scientists have been incorporated into this site where appropriate.

Please be sure to read the disclaimer on this site.
