Purpose of This Site

I have tried to provide the most comprehensive gathering of information available in one place on Basilar Artery Migraine (BAM). My hopes are that this site will be of benefit to:

1. patients who suffer from (and have been diagnosed with) Basilar Artery Migraine

2. patients who are as yet undiagnosed and are searching for possible causes of their neurological disorder

3. family and friends of those who may be suffering from Basilar Artery Migraine, in an attempt to provide for better management of the disorder and improvement of quality of life

4. clinicians (family practitioners, neurologists, and other health care providers) who may be unfamiliar, or underfamiliar, with Basilar Artery Migraine and who may be in search of additional information

5. the general public in the hopes that awareness about this potentially dangerous form of migraine variant will increase, and in the hopes that any migraines or other headaches will be more often brought to the attention of physicians so that they may be properly diagnosed and treated, thus increasing the chances of "catching" more serious conditions that may otherwise remain unreported or untreated

My ultimate goal is to *help save those who have Basilar Artery Migraine from some of the suffering associated with the attacks themselves, from the fear of the unknown until a proper diagnosis is made by a neurologist, and from the dangers of incorrect diagnosis and treatment.

Most cases of BAM certainly do not result in permanent damage of any kind. However, in rare circumstances where the case of BAM and its consequences are extremely severe, the result can be stroke, coma, or even death. It is my most sincere wish that the efforts I have put into creating this site may in some small way contribute to the prevention of even one such tragedy.
